Stoke City 2-1 Crystal Palace

After trailing 1-0 at half-time and not playing that well, Stoke came back with two quick goals early on in the second half from Ryan Shawcross and Charlie Adam to give us our first win and points of the new season. Good confidence boost to Mark Hughes as well who always has the media referring back to his unsuccessful tenure at QPR.

Walsall next in the Capital One Cup second round tomorrow night and a chance for the fringe/younger players to get a run out. Walsall will be a tough opponent though as they have hardly lost this year and beat Port Vale in the first round.

Looks like Liverpool midfielder Oussama Assaidi will be signing on a season long loan today. Mixed reviews on him from Liverpool fans but he is quick paced and just what we need as we are lacking decent pace in the side at the moment. We are still being linked with plenty of strikers including West Brom’s Peter Odemwingie and Man City’s John Guidetti, neither of whom set the old pulses racing on first glance. The summer transfer window closes at 5pm next Monday September 2nd so expect a busy week and of the players leaving Cameron Jerome to possibly Reading is looking increasingly likely.
