Not a great start for Gibraltar’s European Championship qualifying campaign – their first ever. Robert Lewandowski scored four for the visitor’s Poland. Still the group does contain Scotland who as I know from being a supporter never do things the easy way and may well draw away at Gibraltar!
They have a tough group with Germany, Georgia and Republic of Ireland completing the group. The team is mainly made up of amateur players with a few professionals. I am confident they can get at least one or two draws in their inaugural qualifying campaign. Gibraltar’s next game is on Saturday 10th October away against Republic of Ireland.
Elsewhere in the European Championship qualifiers tonight Albania pulled off a great away win beating Portugal 1-0. Scotland lost 2-1 to Germany whilst Republic Of Ireland (Stoke’s Wilson, Whelan & Walters all featured) and Northern Ireland both recorded 2-1 away wins.
