Jeff Lynne’s ELO to tour?
Following the amazing reaction and reviews after Sunday night’s concert at Hyde Park it looks increasingly likely that more live dates from Jeff Lynne’s ELO will be in offing 🙂 This was further backed up after BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans interviewed one of the backing musicians on his radio show and they said they’d be asked to clear their diaries. Any tour dates would be next year now. I for one will certainly be keeping a keen eye on all things Jeff Lynne and ELO over the coming weeks and months!
The backing band on Sunday included bass player Lee Pomeroy (a highly rated musician and a name familiar to many prog rock fans), who also plays with It Bites and Steve Hackett (ex-Gensis), as well as Take That/Gary Barlow. Guitarist Milton McDonald has also played in Take That’s backing band along with many other artists including Annie Lennox and Robbie Williams. Another Take That veteran (along with Olly Murs!) is drummer Donavan Hepburn who did a sterling job laying down the Bev Bevan backbeat. Another possible name musician was the percussionist Mick Wilson, who I think is the same Mick Wilson in the current incarnation of 10CC.
