Forty Nights fundraising

For my 40th birthday in 2008 I thought a novel way to raise funds would be to have bands/authors I have enjoyed so far in my life and have them kindly plug two fundraising pages for donations to their fans (be it through a gig, email newsletter, etc) for the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and Donna Louise Trust (see links for JustGiving pages for these charities).

The grand total raised in 2008 was = £1,034.63

…comprising of £672 from the Bearstock 3 gig in Feb (£168 each to Diabetes UK; Parkinson’s Disease Society; Bees United and Spelthorne Crossroads for Carers); £110.70 raised for the Donna Louise Trust via Justgiving.Com; £173.04 for the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy via Justgiving.com and £55 from the above EBay auctions.

Please support the bands/authors who have supported my fundraising efforts by going to one of their events or buying their music or books -please visit them all 🙂

This classic song ‘Magic Power’ by TRIUMPH says it all about the power of music.

ROBERT RANKIN author of many fabulous books (everyone should read all of his Brentford trilogy books and ‘The Toyminator’).

Check out Manchester rock station DJ PAUL ANTHONY who is kindly plugging this website. He used to host an excellent rock show on Signal back in the late 80’s called ‘Mutha Knows Best’.

ROBIN GEORGE has had solo success with ‘Dangerous Music’ (and the classic single ‘Heartline’). More recently he has been a member of Damage Control who fetaure Spike (The Quireboys), Pete Way (UFO) & Chris Slade (Asia/Uriah Heep). Damn fine blues rock! He has donated signed CD’s for EBay and is currently working on a charity CD.

CHRISTOPHER FOWLER author of urban unease, dark comedy, mystery & horror. Try his excellent Bryant & May mysteries or one of his dark short stories collections, the latest of which ‘Old Devil Moon’ is out now. WAYSTED formed by UFO bass player PETE WAY are back with original vocalist FIN. Their latest album ‘The Harsh Reality’ is a cracking slice of good time rock ‘n’ roll. (Grab a copy of their ‘Save Your Prayers’ album which features a certain young DANNY VAUGHN on vocals)

I applaud Jason’s efforts and I hope it inspires many others to follow suit!”
