Rochdale 1-4 Stoke City FA Cup 4th Round

Good away win after an early wonder goal by Bojan, easily the most talented Stoke player I have seen in my lifetime as a Stoke supporter. Rumours of Liverpool interested in him, they can look elsewhere, Emile Heskey would be good for them 😉

The other goals came from Stephen Ireland, Victor Moses and Jon Walters. Next round is Blackburn away, a tough game and hopefully televised again.

Andy Wilkinson has returned from his loan spell at Millwall and Jamie Ness is back on loan at Crewe for the rest of the season.

Erik Pieters set to sign?

Dutch left back Erik Pieters could be close to signing for us after apparently having had a tour of Clayton Woods and his agent has been in discussions with the club. We nearly signed him in January but an injury scuppered any deal.

David Bentley could be set to join him on a free transfer after being released by Spurs, this rumour along with Martin Olsson from Blackburn gain more media coverage as both players have worked with Mark Hughes previously. The Sky sources quote has appeared today with regards to Bentley and as a free transfer worth a go, even if he failed to impress at Spurs.

One former Potter on the move is Martin Paterson who joins Huddersfield Town from Burnley. Also it seems Ricardo Fuller won’t be joining the Vale.

Two goals for Peter Crouch secured our fourth away win of the season as we played football – are you watching Talk Sport?

Transfer update:

Danny Pugh has signed for Leeds Utd on a two and a half year contract. A very versatile player and one that will be missed – good luck!

Meanwhile Jermaine Pennant has denied reports he is leaving Stoke and will see out the remaining 18 months of his current contract.

Blackburn’s Junior Holliet, who is out of contract this summer, is attracting interest from us and Spurs.

Everton’s Leighton Baines gets a mention on the Oatcake MB as a possible target.

Next up Gillingham away in the FA Cup third round
