Stoke City 0-1 Aston Villa

Not the greatest start to the season nor the best start for some of our new signings (Phil Bardsley was not that impressive although Bojan showed more of his magic). It is early days yet and it could take a few games to hit our stride. As we know Mark Hughes teams always have a stronger second half of the season 😉

We have signed Victor Moses on a season long loan from Chelsea. An excellent signing, as although his loan at Liverpool last season wasn’t a success he was very good playing for Wigan the season before. Mark Hughes said on BBC Radio Stoke our incoming transfer business has now been concluded.

Stoke City 2-0 Real Betis

Great to be able to be visiting Stoke when I can see a game. Good result tonight although we were much more impressive in the first half.

Bojan looked impressive and scored the second goal after Erik Pieters opened the scoring.

Second half we lacked midfield pace when N’Zonzi came off and Sidwell came on. Good to see Huth back on the pitch and Bardsley looked impressive, although I am sure with his committed style of play he will be in the refs book a few times!

In transfer news Brek Shea has been offered on loan or a permanent move.

Kitson retires, Palacios fails…

Stoke drew their first pre-season friendly in Germany 1-1 against Borussia Monchen-gladbach with Peter Crouch getting Stoke’s goal. Robert Huth is back in action and the World Cup players (bar Palacios) will join the squad this week having had extra time off.

Bojan could still join from Barcelona although other clubs are interested in signing him too. Two players stayed at home from the German trip to secure moves away from the club. Wilson Palacios nearly moved to Qatar until he failed a medical, so he’s still on our books for now and out of contract in the summer. Cameron Jerome is also looking to move away and maybe Pulis will come in for him if he hasn’t found a new club on deadline day.

Former player news…Jon ‘The Beast’ Parkin has signed for Forest Green, currently managed by one of Pulis’s old coaches Ady Pennock. Meanwhile the Ginger Ninja aka Dave Kitson has announced his retirement from football and leaves his current club Oxford Utd.
