No news on the manager and Dom Telford impresses on loan

Still no news on the manager’s position as Paul Lambert currently remains in charge. With David Moyes’ contract now expired with West Ham there are some rumours we may be after him as our next manager.

Jack Butland may possibly stay next season. Speaking on Sunday to the club website he said: “I would love nothing more than to see this Club back in the Premier League. If I’m a part of that, brilliant, if I’m not, and things go different ways, then that is what happens – but at the moment it is extremely difficult to talk about it.” Be great if he did, although realistically he is likely to be off to a Premier League club in the summer.

18 year old Lasse Sorenson made his senior debut at the 2-1 win at Swansea and certainly impressed. Along with Tom Edwards and Tyrese Campbell we should see these as regulars in the match day squad next season. Another who may be in contention is 21 year old Dom Telford who scored 14 goals in six games whilst playing under Chris Hargreaves’ development squad during his season long loan at Bristol Rovers. Add in Josh Tymon, Julien N’Goy, Thibaud Verlinden and Harry Souter we do have youngsters who could well make the jump to regular first team football.

New Championship season starts on the weekend of 3rd-5th August and the fixtures are released on June 21st.

Gibraltar v Poland preview

The first competitive European Championship qualifier for Gibraltar who have been officially recognised by UEFA. A momentous occasion for the national team and their fans. Good they have a home draw for this game, although playing Poland will certainly test their goalkeeper! Love to see a draw, although realistically think it will be 3-1/4-1 to Poland.

The squad named for the game includes nine players from Lincoln Red Imps FC and three players from Manchester 62 FC. Two English based players make then squad (Danny Higginbotham has since retired after a brief playing career with Gibraltar), Preston’s Scott Wiseman (he has two caps to date and has played previously at club level for Hull, Rochdale & Barnsley) and Jake Gosling (he ahs two caps and one goal to date) from Bristol Rovers.

Goalkeepers:

Jordan Perez (Lincoln Red Imps FC), Jamie Robba (College Europa FC(, Kaaron Macedo (St Josephs FC)

Defenders:

Scott Wiseman (Preston North End FC), Roy Chipolina (Lincoln Red Imps FC), Ryan Casciaro (Lincoln Red Imps FC), David Artell (Bala Town FC), Jean Carlos Garcia (Lincoln Red Imps FC), John Jack Sergeant (Manchester 62 FC), Joseph Chipolina (Lincoln Red Imps FC)

Midfielders:

Liam Walker (Bnei Yehuda FC), Scott Ballantine (Manchester 62 FC), Jeremy Lopez (Manchester 62 FC), Jake Gosling (Bristol Rovers FC), Anthony Hernandez (Unattached), Rafa Bado (Lynx FC)

Strikers:

Kyle Casciaro (Lincoln Red Imps FC), Lee Casciaro (Lincoln Red Imps FC), Adam Priestley (Farsley FC), John Paul Duarte (Lincoln Red Imps FC), George Cabrera (Lincoln Red Imps FC)

Two off on loan and Nash signs for another year

Matthew Lund has gone on loan to Bristol Rovers and Florent Cuvelier looks set to join Walsall on loan, both will be until Christmas. Meanwhile, Carlo Nash has signed a new on year contract, great news as he provides ideal cover.

Geoff Cameron’s proposed move seems to be mired in Major League Soccer (MLS) red tape. Hopefully he can sign for us but the fee offered seems to be a sticking point at present.

No other firm transfer news just lots of speculation although Michael Owen looks set for Everton and there is no news on Kenwyne Jones leaving the club.
