Four can leave the club

Manager Gary Rowett has said four players – Imbula, Charlie Adam (who has been ruffling feathers with his radio punditry), Maxim Choupo-Moting and Geoff Cameron – are all surplus to requirements and available before this month’s EFL deadline. Imbula is likely to be a loan again and of the four Geoff Cameron looks the likeliest to leave first with firm interest from a couple of European clubs.

Stoke will look to get a few players on loan, either as season long ones or loan to buy where we loan a player and pay the agreed transfer fee in January (like Benik Afobe). Makes bit of a nonsense about the transfer window closing on August 9th though.

Crouch signs one year contract extension

Peter Crouch has signed a one year extension to his current contract taking him up to 2019 at the club. At 36 he still has a few years and goals in him and one of the best Stoke signings in recent years.

January we could see Charlie Adam and Glen Johnson shown the door, whilst Stephen Ireland, who’s current short term deal finishes in January, could also leave after being offered a reduced terms contract until next summer. Lets hope Johnson goes absolute waste signing him for another year as he is way past his best.

Wollscheid departs, Indi incoming

Wolfsburg have signed Philipp Wollscheid on a season long loan from Stoke with an option to buy. No incoming defender as yet although Porto’s Bruno Martins Indi will be signing shortly on loan, paperwork and international permits are apparently being processed and he’s had his medical.

Meanwhile, Stoke have turned down offers for Charlie Adam from Burnley and Hull. Do hope Adam stays as a great impact sub, although of course the player himself my prefer regular starts.

Stoke City transfer news

Weekend press reports have Stoke in pole position to sign West Brom striker Saido Berahino. If true, he could sign this week ahead of the players returning for pre-season training next week. One target we won’t be signing is Norwich’s Nathan Redmond who signed for manager-less Southampton.

One player heavily linked with a move away is Charlie Adam who is wanted by newly promoted Burnley and a move that could appeal to Adam as he would be guaranteed more starts.

Adam, Moses and Whitehead

Charlie Adam has signed a new extended contract with the club until 2017, with an option of a further year. Great news as his form since becoming a regular in the starting XI following Bojan’s injury was immense. Speaking of Bojan he is aiming to be back in contention for the opening game of the season against Liverpool.

One player who looks like won’t be signing is Victor Moses if this Guardian news piece is to be believed. Seems he is not keen to be any part of a deal to take Begovic to Chelsea. No formal offers have been made for Begovic yet.

Andy Wilkinson is on a week-by-week contract with the club until he finds himself a new club after being released this summer.

Ex-Stoke player Dean Whitehead has moved clubs again signing for Huddersfield Town.

Stoke City 6-1 Liverpool

Rodgers

What a fantastic result and end to the current season 🙂

The goalscorers were Mama Diouf (2), Jon Walters, Charlie Adam, Peter Crouch and Steven N’Zonzi.

Some interesting records broken today:

Steven Gerrard has never lost a Premier League game by more than four goals.

Stoke are the first team to score five goals vs Liverpool in a league game since Coventry in December 1992.

This is Liverpool’s heaviest defeat since the 1950’s.

Stoke last scored more than five goals in a league game back in 1982.

Peter Crouch, with his goal today, became the leading all time scorer from headers in the Premier League.

Stoke’s highest ever win in the Premiership.

* Stoke City will play Brentford in a pre-season friendly on Saturday July 25th.

Stoke City 3-0 Tottenham

What a great team performance today and good to see Marc Muniesa back in defence, no coincidence our defence looked much better today? Plus we had Jack Butland in goal again. Goals from Charlie Adam (his fourth in six games), Steve N’Zonzi and Mama Diouf.

Up to ninth now, not sure we can make eighth spot though.
