Tymon signs for Stoke :)

Eighteen year old left back Josh Tymon has signed from Hull City on a five year deal. The fee will go to a tribunal due to his age. Good signing of a highly rated youngster and in an area we don’t have great cover for.

Jon Walters is all but set to join Burnley in a deal of around £3m. He has been a great player for us and hopefully Mark Hughes has some sort of replacement lined-up. Mind you, given the fanfare Bojan has been given at coming back after his loan last season maybe we are looking at him as our new SJW?

Man City’s Fabian Delph could still be joining us on a loan, although hopefully he won’t seek advice from Wildred Bony after his disastrous loan with us last season!

The squad travel to Switzerland this weekend for the start of their pre-season friendlies and Philipp Wollscheid will be in the squad, despite spending most of last season away on loan. No news on Joselu who was linked to Malaga and unless he engineers a move, looks set to stay with the club for now.

Ireland signs six month contract

Stephen Ireland has signed a six month contract until January 2018 with Stoke City as he recovers from his broken leg which saw him out of action for the majority of last season.

The squad (bar those who have been on international duty in May and June) will be back to start pre-season training on Wednesday ahead of the first pre-season friendlies which start on July 10.

Hull City’s Josh Tymon is expected to join the club this week with a fee being decided at a tribunal.

Jon Walters is now on the radar of Steve Bruce at Aston Villa, who have just signed John Terry. Villa have also been linked with Glen Whelan having had one bid turned down by Stoke.

Goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann has joined Watford after being released by Stoke and George Waring has joined Tranmere Rovers. He never played for Stoke’s first team although he has been on loan at Oxford Utd and Carlisle Utd among others.

Wollscheid departs, Indi incoming

Wolfsburg have signed Philipp Wollscheid on a season long loan from Stoke with an option to buy. No incoming defender as yet although Porto’s Bruno Martins Indi will be signing shortly on loan, paperwork and international permits are apparently being processed and he’s had his medical.

Meanwhile, Stoke have turned down offers for Charlie Adam from Burnley and Hull. Do hope Adam stays as a great impact sub, although of course the player himself my prefer regular starts.

Hull City 1-1 Stoke City

Dire…that in a word sums up Stoke’s performance today. Wilson needs dropping pronto; need a little more grit to match the fancy play and Diouf I really hope he starts to show what made him so good at Hanover! Fair play to ten man Hull who battled like the Stoke of old and a late Shawcross equaliser meant we got our first point and goal of the new season.

Will we add another centre back ahead of next Monday’s transfer deadline? Interestingly one rumour over Pulis leaving Crystal Palace was that he wanted a triple Stoke swoop on Crouch, Walter and Wilson which Palace wouldn’t authorise. On Wilson’s current form many Stoke fans would happily drive him down to south London…

Stoke City 1-0 Hull City

Not a pretty game as Stoke ground out a 1-0 win over Hull thanks to that man again Peter Odemwingie. He has been a superb signing since he joined in January and has invigorated players around him most notably Peter Crouch. The team is so settled even the returning Charlie Adams from suspension had to make do with a place on the bench!

During March we have taken 13 from a possible 15 points, an amazing achievement considering in January we were seriously in the relegation poop. We now have that magic 40pts and lets see if we can beat our current Premiership record of 48pts.
