Transfer deadline day summer 2017 has been busy at Stoke with Ryan Shawcross signing a new four year contract. He’s been with the club ten years and a very pleased we are keeping him on for a further four years.

Meanwhile, fellow defender Philipp Wollscheid has had the remaining year of his contract cancelled by mutual consent allowing him to join FC Metz.

Bojan has joined Alaves on a season long loan, despite Mark Hughes praising him and welcoming him back earlier this summer after his last season long loan! He has never been at his best since his long lay off due to an injury.

Imbula has joined Toulouse on a season long loan and would be surprised if he ever dons a Stoke shirt again.

Bruno Martins-Indi joins Stoke City, Muniesa leaves on loan

Bruno Martins-Indi has joined Stoke City after signing a five year deal. Stoke have paid 7.7m Euros for him after he had a successful loan spell with us last season. A great back three now with BMI, Shawcross and Zumoa.

The club have denied reports linking Shawcross with Burnley and Joe Allen with his old club Swansea. However, Marc Muniesa has joined Spanish side Girona on a season long loan.

Former keeper Shay Given has yet to find a new club after being released by the club in the summer, however he may join the Indian Super League if he’d unable to find a suitable English club.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting joins Stoke City

Cameroon international forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has signed on a free transfer from Schalke 04.

He told Stoke City+ “I am just so happy to join the Stoke City family and have this opportunity to play in the English Premier League for the first time”.

Good signing and welcome to the Mighty Potters!

Bardsley joins Burnley

Another day, another player leaving Stoke as Phil Bardsley joins Burnley for a fee of £750k, possibly rising to £1.5m. He will link up with fellow ex-Stoke player Jon Walters and possibly Shay Given, who Burnley may sign as their third choice keeper for the new season. Mark Hughes has been impressed with Tom Edwards in pre-season so far, hence allowing Bardsley to leave (although shame we couldn’t have let Glen Johnson go as he if off the pace and prone to injury)).

The club’s strategy of having fewer senior players and allowing more youngsters to play in the first team seems to be gathering pace. Just hope we do sign a few players with experience, notably in defence and another forward as we are lacking goal scoring power – not an easy thing to find unless a club is willing to spend silly amounts of money.

Stoke lost 2-1 at Sheff Utd last night in their latest pre-season friendly with Xherdan Shaqiri scoring Stoke’s goal.

Chelsea’s defender Kurt Zouma has signed on a season long loan

Chelsea’s defender Kurt Zouma has signed on a season long loan.

Manager Mark Hughes told the club’s official website: “Kurt is undoubtedly one of the most talented young defenders in the game, so naturally his arrival will enhance our playing squad for the forthcoming campaign.”

Good signing for us and hope we sign Bruno Martin Indi, although that transfer has gone quite this week.

Arnie, Whelan off and Tonge up the Vale!

Marko Arnautovic looks set to complete his £24m move the West Ham either today or tomorrow. A great player for us on his day, although you do wonder if his off field moods upset the dressing room karma. He’s moving purely for money though as West Ham are hardly Real Madrid, one of a few clubs he’d said he would only ever leave Stoke for.

Also packing his bags is Glen Whelan who has joined Aston Villa in a deal worth up to £2m, with an initial fee of £1.25m. One of the players who helped us gain promotion to the Premiership and he has been a regular since he joined in 2008, making 338 league and cup appearances for Stoke. One of the better players I have seen at Stoke in recent years and wishing him well at Villa.

Imbula looks set to leave before the new season starts with Torino the latest club to express interest in signing him.

Question is how much of the incoming transfer fees will Mark Hughes be given to spend? Various reports are linking us with Man City’s Fabian Delph in a £10m deal, not a loan as originally thought.

Chelsea defender Kurt Zuoma is all but signed on a season long loan and has even been photographed in Stoke kit! The delay in announcing this deal is thought to be whilst he agrees a new contract at Chelsea.

Bruno Martins Indi could still be a Stoke player, although Porto are playing silly buggers it seems and Crystal Palace are interested in signing him as well.

Man Utd’s Ashley Young has also been heavily linked with a move to Stoke.

Former Stoke player Michael Tonge is currently a trialist at Port Vale. He was at Stoke for five years between 2008 and 2013, where he spent more time on loan than at Stoke. Never really made an impact and not one of Tony Pulis’s better signings. After two seasons at Stevenage he is after a new club and if he joins the Vale he will link up with fellow former Stoke player Danny Pugh.
