Adam, Moses and Whitehead

Charlie Adam has signed a new extended contract with the club until 2017, with an option of a further year. Great news as his form since becoming a regular in the starting XI following Bojan’s injury was immense. Speaking of Bojan he is aiming to be back in contention for the opening game of the season against Liverpool.

One player who looks like won’t be signing is Victor Moses if this Guardian news piece is to be believed. Seems he is not keen to be any part of a deal to take Begovic to Chelsea. No formal offers have been made for Begovic yet.

Andy Wilkinson is on a week-by-week contract with the club until he finds himself a new club after being released this summer.

Ex-Stoke player Dean Whitehead has moved clubs again signing for Huddersfield Town.

Mark Hughes signs a new contract

Mark Hughes has signed a new contract with Stoke City until 2019. Great news for the club and fans.

Chairman Peter Coates has also revealed the summer priorities are to have N’Zonzi and Begovic sign new deals, along with signing Victor Moses permanently.

Peter Odemwingie could make the subs bench soon as he aims to return after his long term injury. Be great if he gets a goal on his comeback.

Rochdale 1-4 Stoke City FA Cup 4th Round

Good away win after an early wonder goal by Bojan, easily the most talented Stoke player I have seen in my lifetime as a Stoke supporter. Rumours of Liverpool interested in him, they can look elsewhere, Emile Heskey would be good for them 😉

The other goals came from Stephen Ireland, Victor Moses and Jon Walters. Next round is Blackburn away, a tough game and hopefully televised again.

Andy Wilkinson has returned from his loan spell at Millwall and Jamie Ness is back on loan at Crewe for the rest of the season.

Moses out for six weeks

Serious injury blow with Victor Moses out injured for six weeks. He will miss the key festive season games and leaves Arnie as our only real pace player.

Better news is that Marc Wilson should be back to face Liverpool, although Huth is still injured.

Sunderland 3-1 Stoke City

Poor defensively again and Charlie Adam got our goal which did even the game out for awhile at 1-1. Really need to get back to a Pulis like defence and stop these lapses of concentration which cost us there and at QPR away. Could see Huth back in place of Wilson if Huth is fit enough.

Worrying the amount of injuries we pick up under Mark Hughes though with Victor Moses off injured and really hope he is back, along with Diouf before our next game. Also in the physio room currently are Geoff Cameron and a long term injury to Peter Odemwingie.

Swansea next at home after the international break and that is a fixture we must get at the very least a draw from.

Stoke City 1-0 Newcastle

Begovic; Bardsley, Shawcross, Wilson, Muniesa; Whelan, N’Zonzi, Diouf (Arnautovic), Adam (Ireland), Moses (Assaidi); Crouch

Subs: Pieters, Huth, Bojan Krkic, Sørensen

Good to get our first home win and points of the season as Crouch headed home thanks to a Moses cross fifteen minutes into the first half. The pace of Moses, Diouf (who went off injured early on) and Arnautovic caused Newcastle lots of problems, plus they linked up well with Crouch, something he praised in his post-match interview. Muniesa was impressive again at left back and Moses has proved to be a real asset so far this season.

Not so great for Alan Pardew who was barracked by the away supporters, some of whom held up posters, a sign of the modern age using the internet to get rid of your manager!

Next up Sunderland away which will be a harder game than the recent Capitol One Cup win up there last week. Diouf has been called into the Senegal squad for this game in mid-October against Tunisia. Hopefully his injury won’t see him out of action for too long.

Stoke City 0-1 Aston Villa

Not the greatest start to the season nor the best start for some of our new signings (Phil Bardsley was not that impressive although Bojan showed more of his magic). It is early days yet and it could take a few games to hit our stride. As we know Mark Hughes teams always have a stronger second half of the season 😉

We have signed Victor Moses on a season long loan from Chelsea. An excellent signing, as although his loan at Liverpool last season wasn’t a success he was very good playing for Wigan the season before. Mark Hughes said on BBC Radio Stoke our incoming transfer business has now been concluded.
