DOWLING POOLE announce a new single

Rebecca video still EYELASH with logo

From today, you can click this link and watch the video for Rebecca Receiving the first single to be released from ‘One Hyde Park. Watch it twice. Or three times. The more views the better. Popularity is a fickle mistress and she makes monstrous demands.

Rebecca Receiving will be available to download from iTunes but not until February 19th and it will come with two other exclusive songs not on the ‘One Hyde Park’ album, (we’ll remind you on Feb 19th).

Meanwhile, we’d like you to send this link to the video to all your musical friends. We’re hoping that the video and single might pull in a few more people to pre-order the album. Every. Little. Helps.

We’d also like you to email us back at this address and let us know if you know of a DJ on local or national radio who might have enough freedom from playlists to play this song. Even better if you have an email for them. Let us know, and we’ll approach them, and then you email them and ask them directly. Multi-pronged attack.

Is this asking too much of you? Well – yes we’d say it probably is, but apparently, this is what the kids are having to do o get noticed these days and if it’s good enough for the kids…..

…And the beat goes on….GIG NEWS!!!

Once more intruding into your personal cyberspace with a brief update in case you’ve missed stuff. And with so many social media platforms that we’re apparently all using these days, you would think it almost impossible to miss stuff, but ironically it becomes harder to spot everything and by all accounts, more slips through our respective social media nets now, than was doing over the last few years.

All of which makes our job of trying to raise awareness about our new album ‘One Hyde Park’ all the less palatable, particularly when every other day, one or other musical hero exits via the last of the stage doors, making any attempt at playing ‘upbeat enthusiastic promoters’ at best awkward and at worst, highly inappropriate.

So, to the meat of it…..

We’re finally playing a full electric live show in London at The Borderline on Saturday May 14th and we have a very limited number of special offer tickets available exclusively through our pledge page.

With the limited edition ticket, for just £25 you get to see the show, and collect a T-shirt featuring Edwina One in the size of your choice, and a very special CD single featuring the songs ‘Rebecca Receiving’ and ‘One Hyde Park’. These singles were made for radio promotion only, in a unique sleeve, and there are so few available it’s pitiful. You’ll collect both T-shirt and CD single from the merchandise stand on the day of the gig.

All of this rather gives the game away that before too long, (Feb 19th in fact) ‘Rebecca Receiving’ will be released as a single, but we’ll keep you posted on that front since we’re hoping to persuade at least some of you to do a little hustling on our behalf.

However, we’re getting ahead of ourselves slightly and next week, three weeks before the single is released, you’ll get a notification that the video goes live.

Hopefully, you’ll have spotted the second in our series of videos giving a behind the scenes look at The Dowling Poole and the making of ‘One Hyde Park’ but here’s the link if it slipped by unnoticed. And as ever, if you’ve the time and inclination, please share with everyone.

Scan the obituary columns and fingers crossed ’til next week….Happy Weekend!

Dearest Friends of The Dowling Poole.

We’ve been quiet for a while. A long while.

You’ll have noticed perhaps?

Well lets face it, there’s an awful lot of noise out there on the internet to contend with these days. We thought we’d wait until we had something to say before adding to it.

The announcement that we HOPE that you’ve been waiting for, is actually not this one. That will come early in the New Year. January 7th to be precise.

In the meantime, we thought in the best tradition of teasing, we’d offer up something that might offer you a little seasonal joy and a minor Proustian rush.

If you follow this link – you’ll find three new videos of acoustic performances of tracks from the ‘Bleak Strategies’ sessions.

The audio recordings from these videos are also available as mp3’s free to everyone (follow the link, just as a wee warm up, and a taste of what was…..before we move on in January to talk about what is.

And if you didn’t already download it during the campaign for Bleak Strategies, you can also download for free, the full electric version of The Strawman from the same page.

Finally, over the last year or so, we received and rather rudely ignored, lots of requests to make lyrics for Bleak Strategies available. We finally got around to making some up, and they’re here.

Please post/share the videos and audio wherever you see fit and you’ll lear from us again on January 7th

Love, Your chums

Power pop rock – Waltham are back :)

One of the better power pop rock bands Waltham are backs with a tuneful little ditty ‘Stand N’ Fight’. Loved their self-titled album released a few years ago and they seemingly disappeared until now. Surprises me how power pop/rock never gets much mention over here.

One of the UK’s leading writer and performers of classy pop/punk/rock is Ginger of the Wildhearts fame who had Hey! Hello! this year plus he has  new Pledge Music funded album project Albion out early next year. Does the man never sleep?

Of course equally as good in my humble opinion is Willie Dowling who has worked with Ginger in the past. Sadly Jackdaw4 are no more but they left us with lots of great tunes including this one…

…and one final slice of pop rock bliss by the US masters of the pop rock riff Cheap Trick
